More Beauty Ahead….

My friend was leaving town today after several weeks of visiting my beautiful town of Asheville, NC. She fell in love with the nature, the ecstatic dances, the people, and the general vibe that is this magical place. 

We were sending goodbye texts and audio messages back and forth to each other this morning as she was driving North, leaving town.

In the midst of that exchange I was walking along the greenway by the French Broad River where the devastation from Hurricane Helene in September is so apparent. I was grieving for the destruction, crying for the damage, and feeling deep pain for the losses. 

Death is an invitation to keep your heart open

I have been walking this week and crying. Walking and crying. 

So in her last message to me she was marveling at the beautiful road she was on with its picturesque visage of snow on the trees, the great expanse of nature, the grey of the skies. And she signed off with this incredible phrase….More beauty ahead.

And I thought, that’s it. That’s the best phrase ever. 

No matter what’s happening, there’s more beauty ahead.
