Reclaiming Our Connection to Nature’s Heartbeat

When difficult things happen in the body, it’s hard to trust ourselves.
And when difficult things happen in nature it’s hard to trust her.
For many of us in Asheville, nature was/is our access to divinity and source.
If possible let’s find that trust again.

Death is an invitation to keep your heart open

In the night sky, in a patch of untouched ground, in the vastness of the mother beneath us – she’s bigger than all of this. And her heartbeat is strong. Especially now.

If water feels too violent maybe:

  • Find a patch of earth that’s been untouched and put bare feet or bare belly on her.
  • Likewise a tree to cry into.
  • Or a fire to sit by and share our troubles.

Every breath is the air hugging our hearts through our lungs. For this one moment at least we are alive. Thanks to air.

And then there’s that ineffable element of ether, known as Akasha and it represents stillness or emptiness, it is the space from which consciousness arises. It contains and holds us all. It is both within and without and available at all times.

There is refuge in this moment.

Let’s hold each other in that truth.

Hurricane Helene ravaged Asheville, NC and the surrounding Western NC area on September 27, 2024. This post was created in response to that devastation and helping our community find its way through the destruction and towards recovery and wholeness.

Lee Warren is a death and tantra educator, somatic guide, writer, mystic, and community builder.  Lee’s work delves into the intimate relationship between our physical existence and the mysteries of life and death. She teaches how embracing the certainty of our mortality can transform fear into profound gratitude and ecstatic embodiment.

Why do we want to be more embodiment? Because that’s where divine intelligence lives. Consciousness is in every cell of our being and it’s waiting to be enlivened.

Her rich and varied experiences—from three decades of ecovillage living and the practice of sustainable agriculture to her devotional Tantric path—prime her for sharing the teachings of the life/death/life mysteries.
